Wound Management (Tissue Viability) Duration: 3 months start in February and September Location: Chalfont Campus. Course overview: Across seven days of classroom based learning you will explore a wide range of theoretical components of wound management, including relevant anatomy and physiology, wound assessment, identifying and managing infection, development of decision-making skills in selecting dressings and setting wound management objectives. Will also be addressing issues surrounding the care of patients with specific wounds such as leg ulcers and pressure ulcers.

Leg Ulcer Care, duration: 09.30 - 1pm in May Location: Chalfont Campus or West London. Course overview: This is a half-day introduction to leg ulcer management, providing nurses with a useful overview of the knowledge and skills required to care for patients with leg ulcers of varying aetiologies.

The Tissue Viability Team at the University of Hertfordshire have developed a wide range of modules related to the care of people with compromised tissue viability. These modules can be studied as stand- alone courses or as part of a programme building to a Diploma, BSc Hons Degree or MSc Advancing Practice Tissue Viability.

Complexities in Leg Ulcer Management 30 credits. This module is designed for the practitioner who is already managing people with leg ulcers and related conditions. You will already have achieved competence in Doppler assessment and compression therapy and will wish to advance these skills to plan and deliver a more comprehensive care package.

A Certificate of Personal and Professional Development (CPPD) in the Prevention and Management of Leg Ulceration at Levels 5 and 6 is run by the Centre for Research and Implementation of Clinical Practice at Thames Valley University. The module at Level 6 can also be undertaken by distance learning and as part of a programme leading to a BSc.(Hons) in Professional Practice with Tissue Viability.
